Photography is a passion of mine but I do have a life and other interests. I am also passionate about my family, animals, and life in general and yes, sometimes that means some quirky stuff. I wrote a column on Examiner.com for seven years and with their recent closure I've been transferring many of my old article's into the blog.

So here you'll find a little business, a little personal, and a little bit of everything in between. It's all just a bit of a mish-mash here but I hope that you'll enjoy the images I share, what you read, and will return often.

Frozen Strawberry sumthin' or other

I rarely drink but found this really tasty looking recipe for a strawberry whiskey sour online and then couldn't locate it to save my life. So when I got a taste for something of that nature, I just hit the kitchen and winged it.

-Half a blender of ice
Pour on:
4 oz. strawberry lemonade mixed double strength
6 Large strawberries
1 T. sugar
2 oz. Kentucky Bourbon

I didn't manage to drink the whole batch, small as it was (about two drinks this size), so I threw it in the freezer, still in the blender.

Next day I remembered it there and pulled it out and it was a mass too solid to blend, although not rock hard.

So I added another ounce of bourbon and a 1/4 cup of powdered sugar and got this:

I think I like them the second round much better; sweeter and creamier. Either way quite refreshing, but the overnight freeze and re-whipping gave it a nicer texture.

Cheers!
