- Tropical herbaceous perennial plan.
- Native to eastern Africa.
- Common name: including Zanzibar gem, ZZ plant, Zuzu plaZnt, aroid palm, eternity plant and emerald palm.
- Commonly grown as a houseplant for glossy foliage.
- Easy to care for.
- Flowers produced are small, bright yellow/brown or bronze spadix 2–3 in. long and wrapped in a yellow-green spathe.
- Flowering is from midsummer to early autumn.
- Can survive outdoors as long as the temperature does not fall below 60 °F
- Best growth between 64 and 79 °F.
- Higher temperatures increase leaf production
- Bright, indirect light is best. Not suited for intense sun.
- Allow to dry out slightly between waterings.(Every two to three weeks)
- Fertilize once or twice during growing season.
- ZZ plants are toxic to people and pets when ingested.
