I come from and athletic family. Some of my earliest (and fondest) memories are playing in my grandparents back yard listening to the Cardinal's game on the radio playing in the window. Back then we couldn't get the games on TV. Papa sitting in his yard chair (different from the flimsy "lawn" chairs of today), smoking cigars, and cussing occasionally.
Good times.
My folks played ball, my sisters and I all played ball, and almost all of our kids have played as well. My two youngest sisters both have a couple of really good athletes. Hunter is a wiz on the court, Claire a softball star, and Zo and Elly both run like the wind and tear up the ball field in the summer months.
Living so far away, I rarely get to see any of them play/run. That's the one good thing about Facebook- the keeping in touch and somewhat up to date with the lives of people you love and live away from. And as much as I love seeing all the pics my sister's post it's not at all like being there or taking pictures of my own.
Recently I got a chance to watch Claire play ball. It was the school team and not the travelling team she played for over the summer. (I heard they were pretty hardcore teams) It was a really good game though and I loved taking every shot I could lock onto. I can't remember the last time I shot this kind of sporting event. I took all of these from center field.
(Claire, you'll have to share with your friends that are in some of these pics- I shot some of several kids I don't really know)
Love you, Claire.
