Mom's Deer

My mother never has been all animal crazy. Maybe I finally rubbed off on her after all these years. She's gotten to where she feeds and watches some of the wildlife around her place, and of all that's there, the deer fascinate her the most.

I can't say that I blame her; they are magnificent animals. She's tickled that they bed down at one end of her house, the end by her bedroom, and she can listen to them at night. The other end of her house though, under the nightlight, well, that's their toilet. Good thing no one really hangs out at that end.

When I visit we sit on the porch of an evening and watch for them in the field across from her house. This visit they were in the field behind her place. I am getting old so slipping across the half acre backyard and not be seen by any of them was tricky. I only got off a couple of shots before they spied/smelled me, or possibly heard me puffing and grunting my way to the fence line all stooped over.

Last year there were trips. This year it looks like just twins.

Not the best pic, but at least this time I got close ;-)
